Helpful Hearth by

(working name)

Be there for your parent, without being their 24/7 tech support.

A patient AI helper that we are planning to build. It would walk your parent through everyday tasks one step at a time, and let the family members you choose stay informed.

Join the early-access waitlist

This is an early test of an idea. The app does not exist yet. Joining the waitlist is free, is not a commitment, and does not guarantee a place in any pilot, because places will be limited. We are not asking for payment or card details.

The problem

If you live far from an ageing parent, you may be the person they call when an email won't open, a video call won't connect, a message looks suspicious, or a shelf needs putting up.

You want to help, and you also want them to stay independent. Explaining things over the phone is slow for both of you, and you cannot be on call all day.

What we are planning to build

Step-by-step help, at their pace

Your parent asks for help in plain words, for example setting up an email account, joining a video call, putting up a shelf or following a craft pattern. The helper is meant to give one small step at a time, wait for them, and let them say "I'm stuck".

Family kept informed (planned, optional, untested)

Your parent would decide, together with you, which family members can get messages. Your parent would be told what is shared and could change it at any time. A planned "ask my family for help" button could send a message to the family members your parent chose. It would not watch your parent, track their location or check on them in the background.

A shortcut to the phone's dialler (planned, untested)

A planned shortcut would open the phone's dialler with a local emergency number ready, so your parent can press call themselves. The app would not place the call.

These are ideas we want to test, not a finished product. Which ones matter most is what we are trying to learn from you.

Please read: what this is and is not

The helper is an AI, not a person. It can be wrong, so do not rely on it for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions. It is meant to suggest asking family or a professional for anything risky.

Join the early-access waitlist

Four quick questions. You must be 18 or older. We will email you about this test only: whether to join a small free pilot, and a few questions about your experience. No newsletter, no selling your details.

Questions

Does it cost anything?

Joining the waitlist is free. The pilot test is planned to be free of charge, with no card needed, and places will be limited. We have not set a price for anything. Nothing will turn into a paid plan automatically: if we ever offer a paid plan, we will tell you the price and terms first and you will have to say yes separately.

Will my parent have to use a new device?

The idea is that it runs on the phone your parent already uses. This is still to be tested.

Does my parent have to agree?

Yes. The idea only works if your parent is happy to use it and knows what the family can see. Signing up on this page does not give consent on your parent's behalf. We would ask your parent for their own agreement before they use anything, and we would not want anyone monitored in secret.

Who is behind this?

BLAH-BLAH COM (Pty) Ltd (reg. 2026/262065/07), a small independent digital-services business in South Africa. Email: master@blah-blah.co.za. This is an early idea we are testing, not an established product.
